M&M Day
Today as we grab a shareable size of M&Ms, let’s try to solve a mystery! But first, imagine a chocolate candy that melts in your mouth, not in your hand. Well on March 3, 1941, Forrest Mars, Sr. was issued a US patent and later that year - M&M plain chocolate candies were introduced. At first, the candy was only available to the US Army so soldiers could carry candy in tropical climates without it melting. But soon after the war, M&Ms became a favorite candy around the country. And in 1954, M&M peanut chocolate candies joined the company! Fast forward to 2020 where we have everything from pumpkin spice to Mexican jalapeno M&Ms, and you can even have your child’s face printed on the candy. So, here’s the mystery – what is the actual patent number for US Patent issued on March 3, 1941 for M&M design? Inquiring minds want to know! Comment below with the US Patent Number if you can locate it – bonus points for posting a photo!
