Columbus Day
Columbus sailed the ocean blue 1492 (and again three more times before 1504). And while we like to think he discovered the “United States of America,” he really hit a number of Caribbean islands and South/Central America. He came as close to Florida as a Cuban cigar. As with sailors of the time, Columbus relied on the stars and tradewinds to guide him in the right direction. Imagine if he had modern GPS technology to direct him on his journey. Matthew C. Burch patented his GPS Navigation Device in March 2005 (US Pat. No. 6,865,453) to make life easier for those who have no sense of direction. Or easier for those who don’t know how to read a map (or know what a map is)!
Check back in tomorrow for M&M Day!
