December 26 : National Candy Cane Day

Presents have been opened, cookies have been eaten and people are setting their sights on the upcoming new year.  And while for many countries around the world today symbolizes Boxing Day, we also celebrate that peppermint goodness in the shape of a cane as today is #nationalcandycaneday.   While legend has it candy canes date back to the 1600s, it was in August 1928 that Brasher Westerfield patented his Candy-Forming Machine (US Pat. No. 1,680,440) making the manufacturing of candy canes a little easier.  It’s estimated that over 1.7 billion candy canes are sold annually worldwide – with the majority of those being sold between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  That’s a lot of dyed tongues!  @bigiplaw #patentfunfacts #candycane #holidays #candy
