National Miners Day

“There’s gold in them thar hills!” Thus started the California gold rush which led thousands of prospectors to Northern California between 1848 and 1849.  Armed with mining pans, sifters, picks, and the dream of hitting it big, the prospectors endured the elements and long hours searching for a nugget or two.  The miner’s picks they used were undoubtably earlier versions of the one patented by Martin Hardsocg in May 1904 (US Pat. No. 759,704).  Lucky for the prospectors small towns with general stores popped up all around the area to make getting supplies – and selling their gold – easier.  #nationalminersday @bigiplaw #patentfunfacts #goldrush #panforgold
