December 20 : National Ugly Sweater Day

Ugly sweaters are an extension of a white elephant gift.  Everyone has one to share – but does that mean we should do it?!  What makes an ugly holiday sweater?  Bright obnoxious colors?  Off-color sayings or pictures?  Pinned on accessories?  All of the above?  As the holidays are right around the corner put on your most outrageous holiday sweater and help us celebrate #nationaluglysweaterday!  Most stores these days are carrying their own versions of ugly sweaters – but it’s much more fun to find a truly ugly holiday sweater that was intended to be worn to celebrate the holidays.  And there is always the opportunity to make your own sweater – maybe you can grab some tinsel garland, like the type patented in May 1929 by Bernard Franke (US Pat. No. 1,773,580), and glue it to your sweater to make a unique design!  Take a moment and attach a photo of your favorite ugly sweater in the comments below. @bigiplaw #patentfunfacts #uglysweater #holidayfun
