March Charity of the Month, Child's Play

The motto for Behmke Innovation Group’s March charity, Child’s Play, is “Play Games, Feel Better”.

Child’s Play was suggested by Docketing Manager, Daniel Wong. Daniel enjoys gaming and joins others in the gaming community to raise money for Child’s Play in order to help provide video game equipment, as well as toys, to children staying in the hospital, or staying in domestic violence shelters.

Child’s Play has helped over 180 hospitals and nearly 200 shelters. The charity was started in 2003 in response to the negative portrayal of video games and gamers in the media. The first Amazon Wishlist created garnered over $250,000 in cash and toys for Seattle Children’s Hospital – and the charity has kept growing and giving.

Child’s Play supports their Network Hospitals in two ways. First, the Amazon Wishlist program allows the charity to have a wishlist on Amazon where donors can purchase items that are sent directly to the hospital. With the help of hospital staff, wishlists are set up by adding video games, toys, books, and other items needed by the hospitall’s Child Life department for their patients. Additionally, Child's Play supports the needs of the network hospitals by providing an annual monetary gift. This gift is designed to meet the unique needs of the children's hospitals helping them purchase games, toys, and technology that will enhance the patient experience.
